Henri Zuber
Henri Zuber(French, 1844 - 1909)

Henri Zuber brought a traveler’s eye to landscape painting. His views of coastlines, gardens, distant places, and changing skies reflect both careful observation and a lasting fascination with the wider world.

Before becoming a painter, Zuber served in the French Imperial Navy and traveled widely, experiences that shaped his attention to place and atmosphere. After returning to France, he studied art, settled in Paris, and developed a career focused largely on landscape painting and watercolor.

His work often has a clear, open quality, balancing detail with a sense of distance and air. Zuber’s paintings preserve the memory of travel while remaining rooted in the quiet pleasure of looking closely at nature.
